Minolta AreaAF

This camera is in good conition with minimal signs of wear and tear.

What is Minolta Area AF?

Early Multi-Point Autofocus: Introduced in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Minolta's Area AF was an early form of multi-point autofocus. Instead of having just one central autofocus sensor, cameras with Area AF had several sensors arranged in a pattern within the viewfinder.
Wide Focus Area: The "Area" in the name signifies that the camera could detect and focus on subjects within a broader area, giving the photographer more flexibility in composition without having to focus and then recompose.
Automatic Selection: In many implementations, the camera could automatically select the focus point(s) based on where it detected the subject within the defined area. Some cameras also allowed manual selection of a specific focus point within the area.
Predictive Autofocus: Many Minolta cameras with Area AF also incorporated sophisticated predictive autofocus algorithms that could track moving subjects and predict their future position to maintain focus.
