The BRENAN JB7 was a popular micro jukebox designed by Martin Brennan to simplify CD storage and playback. Production ceased in 2014, and technical support has been wound up, but here's what you need to know:
Key Features:
CD Ripping and Storage: It could rip CDs directly to its internal hard drive (available in 40GB, 80GB, and 160GB versions). Compression options ranged from uncompressed to 128kbps, 192kbps (default), and 320kbps. A 160GB model could store over 2000 CDs at 320kbps.
Playback: It functioned as a CD player and music server, allowing users to browse and play their stored music.
Built-in Amplification: Featured an integrated amplifier (2 x 30W), meaning you could connect speakers directly.
Simple Operation: Designed for ease of use with a clear display and a multi-function control knob, along with a remote control.
USB Port: Allowed connection to MP3 players, USB memory sticks, and external hard drives for music transfer and playback. It could also be used for backup to a FAT32 formatted USB drive.
FM/AM Tuner: Included a built-in radio tuner.
Line In/Out and Headphone Socket: Offered connectivity for external audio devices and headphones.
CDDB Database: Came with a pre-loaded CD database for automatic track and album information, with updates available via USB.
Playlist Creation: Allowed users to create and manage playlists.
