Cash Converters donates to local youth charity

The Cash Converters store in Bletchley has donated £300 to local charity Unity Youth Centre, after winning a nationwide competition hosted by the second-hand retailer to find the best performing store over the busy Christmas period.

The second-hand retailer on Queensway beat off strong competition from the other 223 stores across the UK to achieve the best overall results over Christmas.

As the winning store, staff were invited to select a charity of their choice, to which Cash Converters committed a donation of £300 on their behalf.

The store decided to donate the reward money to local charity Unity Youth Centre which helps young people from disadvantaged backgrounds between the ages of 11 and 19. The charity hosts free-of-charge days out and has a centre where young people can meet with friends. It also provides help and support to special needs children with after school clubs and music clubs.

Riffat Rehman from Unity Youth Centre said: “It was fantastic to receive such a generous donation from Cash Converters. The young people have decided to purchase a new laptop with the money which they will be using to write their CV’s and fill out job applications online so it will be being put to good use.”

Rob Burton, Store Manager said: “We were really pleased to win the competition as not only do we take great pride in being the best performing store across the country but we’re delighted we can use this success to help support Unity Youth Centre which is a very worthy cause. The charity is based just over the road from our store on Queensway so we are proud to be able to help a local charity that directly helps young people in the area.”
