Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update – 5 November 2020

Store closures:

In line with the recent UK Government announcement, in England from Thursday 5th November a limited number of Cash Converters stores will be operating an appointment service for limited services, where this is allowed by local councils.  Our stores will be closed for in-store retail purchases. The Cash Converters online webshop will remain open in a reduced capacity, including click and collect where available locally.

The national lockdown in England is due to end on Wednesday 2 December, although this may change dependent on any further announcements by the government.

Stores in Scotland will be allowed to trade in line with the 5-tier local measures in place at the time, so please refer to local government arrangements and your local store for details.

Stores in Wales remain closed due to the local firebreak and are due to reopen from Monday 9 November.

Services:

A limited number of stores will be operating an appointment service for limited services only, such as Buyback redemption or Pawnbroking, where this is allowed by local councils.  Buyback redemptions can only be transacted off premises. Please call or email your local store to see if they will be operating this service. Store contact details can be found by searching using our store locator.

Unfortunately, not all stores will be able to offer an appointment service during lockdown and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. If your agreement expires during this period and you are unable to make an appointment you will not incur any additional fees or interest as a result.  Pawnbroking, Buyback and Layby items will be kept securely during lockdown and retained until stores reopen.

We kindly ask customers not to visit our stores without a pre-agreed appointment.  Any visit via appointment to the store will need to follow strict social distancing requirements.

For store purchases:

Stores will be closed for retail purchases from Thursday 5 November.

For any previous purchases made in store which you wish to return in accordance with your statutory consumer rights, please email your local store to confirm arrangements regarding returns and refunds. 

For stores that are closed and unable to process refunds at this time, items should be retained until stores reopen and will be processed once the national lockdown is lifted, but please do email the store to confirm you are doing this.  Your statutory rights will be extended by the period of store closure in these circumstances.

For webshop purchases:

Deliveries:

A limited number of stores will open on a limited basis to fulfil orders placed online where the stock is held at that store for dispatch.  This may result in a delay to receiving your item, so please allow extra time for delivery before contacting us.

Returns and refunds:

During lockdown we may be unable to process all returns for purchases that have been made from the webshop due to some stores being closed for all services, so all returns should be retained until the national lockdown in England is lifted unless you are able to arrange a return with a store directly.  This will not affect your statutory consumer rights and we will process returns and refunds as soon as the lockdown is lifted.

We apologise for any inconvenience or delays as a result of the lockdown and would like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding during this time.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update – 21 October 2020

You will be aware Wales are to go into a “firebreak” lockdown from Friday 23 October 2020 until Friday 09 November 2020, unfortunately, Cash Converters Wrexham and Rhyl stores will be closed between this time due to being classed as non-essential stores. If you are currently using the Buyback/Pawnbroking service we will contact you directly either by phone or email advising what will happen while we are closed.

Please make sure your contact details are up to date with stores and speak directly before they close.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update - 16 July 2020

We are pleased to announce that the all stores of the UK's number one high street retailer of second-hand goods are now open for business, bar one, with Leicester being the only store not open due to a local lockdown. Please refer to our website to see what the hours of opening are, which may vary from store to store based on local needs.

We have prepared new ways of working and changed the layout of stores in line with government guidelines to ensure the safety of customers and staff in our stores. This includes putting in place plans to manage queues, to have sanitiser available for customers to use on entering the store, clear signposting to manage flow around the store, and limits on numbers who can enter and where to stand to ensure social distancing is maintained. Screens and personal protective equipment will be worn by staff to ensure their and our customers' protection.

All stores are committed to being ‘COVID-secure’ – and you have our assurances that we’re working around the clock to ensure they are – to assist with the control of the spread of the virus across the UK. Following announcements from both the UK and Scottish governments, please help us with this by wearing a face covering or mask when visiting one of our stores.

We are pleased to have returned to our local communities as quickly and safely as possible, and once again offer the products and services our customers need. But we also want customers to know they can shop with confidence, and we will have all the necessary protections and social distancing measures in place.
If you are unable to visit one of our stores to make arrangements for an item that we are holding for you, please telephone your local store to agree alternative arrangements, all requests will be reviewed on an individual basis, with our customers’ safety as a priority. 

If you are struggling or likely to struggle to meet any payments due under a regulated credit agreement, please contact us to discuss potential options. Cash Converters operates in accordance with the special measures announced by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in response to COVID-19, including payment deferrals where appropriate, as well as providing the normal support in line with regulations.
