Online Shopping & Auction Site | Cash Converters

MEDIA STATEMENT: Cash Converters United Kingdom

Our previous version of Webshop (decommissioned on 22 September 2017) was recently subject to an online security breach. We are taking this extremely seriously and have provided our customers of the old Webshop site with details to help protect them from being impacted by the security breach.

Customers should be aware that full credit card details were not obtained as part of the security breach.

Along with the relevant authorities we are investigating this as a matter of urgency. We are also actively implementing measures to ensure that this cannot happen again.

If you believe you have fallen victim to fraud as a result of this breach, please report it to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or online at www.actionfraud.police.uk.

Please be aware that people should only contact Action Fraud if they have fallen victim to fraud as a result of the breach and not if they have simply been affected by the breach.

Our protect advice would be as follows:

  • If any of your financial details were compromised, notify your bank or card company as soon as possible. Review your financial statements regularly for any unusual activity.
  • Criminals can use personal data obtained from a data breach to commit identity fraud. Consider using credit reference agencies, such as Experian or Equifax, to regularly monitor your credit file for unusual activity.
  • Be suspicious of any unsolicited calls, emails or texts, even if it appears to be from a company you know of. Don’t open the attachments or click on links within unsolicited emails, and never disclose any personal or financial details during a cold call.
  • Use three random words to create a strong password. A good way to create a strong and memorable password is to use three random words. Numbers and symbols can still be used if needed.
  • If you believe you have fallen victim to fraud as a result of this data breach, please report to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or online at www.actionfraud.police.uk.
