Cash Converters, the UK’s number one retailer of pre-owned goods and financial services provider, has been putting some of the £250,000 it has raised for national children’s charity Dreams Come True to good use in Dorset.
Thanks to staff at the Cash Converters store in Bournemouth, who have really got behind the company’s fundraising initiatives, Ebony, aged 14 from Dorset, was able to fulfil her dream to swim, snorkel and scuba dive in warm blue sea with an array of different fish and sea life.
Ebony suffers from ataxia-telangiectasia – a rare inherited neuro generative condition which causes significant disability. However thanks to the donation from Cash Converters it was Dream Come True’s pleasure to be able to organise a holiday in Mauritius for Ebony and her parents, Lorne and Tyrone.
Ebony’s Dad, Tyrone said: “Some of the activities that Ebony enjoyed whilst in Mauritius included swimming with hundreds of Spinner dolphins in the Indian Ocean. Spinners travel in huge pods and Ebony could see them swimming around her and could hear the dolphins communicating, surely a memory to treasure! Ebony also went snorkelling most days over the reef and was surrounded by many colourful species of fish. As well as these fantastic experiences Ebony also went sailing, banana boating and even parasailing.”
“Without the help of Dreams Come True and the generosity of those that donate to the cause, Ebony would never have experienced these things and Mum and I are so happy that we could share these dreams with her” continued Tyrone.
Cash Converters has pulled out all the stops to raise much needed funds for Dreams Come True, raising over £250,000 to date to help fulfil the dreams of terminally and seriously ill children.
Chief Executive at Cash Converters, David Patrick, said: “Cash Converters’ staff and franchise owners have really enjoyed coming together to help fulfil the dreams of children like Ebony. We are pleased to be able to help such a meaningful charity and will continue to organise fundraising events to make a difference to Dreams Come True and the children they support.”
Peter Newman, chief executive of Dreams Come True, said: “The support we get from Cash Converters really does contribute greatly to help make children’s dreams come true. We really appreciate the time and effort put into fundraising events and continue to look forward to working with Cash Converters in the future.”
