New store set to strengthen Torquay’s high street

Cash Converters, which buys and sells pre-owned goods and provides personal finance products, is set to mark its official opening in Torquay this week, creating seven new jobs

The UK's leading retailer of second-hand goods, Cash Converters, has announced it is opening a new store in Torquay, bringing seven new jobs to the area.

The new store, located in the town centre on Fleet Street, will officially open to the public on Saturday 5th June as part of Cash Converters’ commitment to investing in UK high streets.

As part of the new store opening, Cash Converters has launched a recruitment drive to fill positions at the new store. This includes an assistant manager and general store assistants.

The opening will be marked with a special launch event and will include exclusive offers on the day including a £30 discount on 40” Sharp 4K Smart televisions and a chance for one lucky customer to win a Nintendo Switch Lite.

The retailer, which buys and sells pre-owned goods and provides personal finance products to the UK market, has already recruited seven positions at the store including a store manager, deputy store manager and five store assistants.

To pledge the store’s commitment to the Torquay community, Mike Stevenson, the Cash Converters’ franchisee responsible for the new store, is looking to team up with charities in the area and is encouraging anyone involved in local community projects to reach out to the store directly on a potential partnership.

Mike said: “We’re really excited to be investing in Torquay’s economic prosperity by opening our new store and supporting job growth in the town.”

“We are proud to be a genuine community retailer, which serves high street customers throughout the UK and are looking forward to the Torquay community welcoming us. The new store will hopefully become a significant addition to the area’s retail scene quite quickly and help customers with a range of services.

“We’re incredibly keen to embed ourselves within the community here and that’s why we’re looking to work with charities and communities in Torquay in need of our support, so I encourage these groups to reach out.”

The new store, which will have 1,000 sqft of retail space, joins existing Cash Converters outlets in the south west, including Plymouth and Devon.
