Golf Day 2008
On the 30th May 2008, Cash Converters UK held an inaugural Charity Golf Day at Market Drayton Gold Club in aid of our favourite cause - Dreams Come True - and raised a fantastic £10,000 for the charity!
The money was raised thanks to generous sponsors, donations on the day and some exciting auction bidding. The four ball format saw teams showing off their perfect swing and enjoying a full day of top quality golf.
The teams were joined for the prizegiving by Liam Maxwell and his family. Liam, who is 16 and suffers from cerebral palsy, had his dream come true when he swam with dolphins in Florida in June 2007. Liam was on hand to tell the participants what a difference their support makes.
Cash Converters and Dreams Come True would like to thank everyone who came along. The event was such a success that it is hoped it will be repeated next year.
Nathan Sermon, business development manager at Cash Converters UK, said; “We had a fantastic response from businesses all willing to dig deep and help children’s dreams come true in return for a great day of competitive golf.
“It was great that Liam could be there for people to see exactly why Cash Converters has chosen to support Dreams Come True. This year will be hard to beat but I’m already looking forward to next year’s event. I am especially grateful to Keith Woodford at KWS Property Services for his generous contribution of Golf memorabilia and to Market Drayton Golf Club for hosting such a fantastic event.”
Philip Pride, fundraising manager at Dreams Come True, said; “Cash Converters UK hosted a fantastic day of golf, a feeling echoed by all of the teams on the course. We are very grateful to them for organising the event and to all of the sponsors, teams and of course Market Drayton Golf Course who made the event such a success.”
A huge thanks goes to the businesses below for their generosity and for supporting the day, along with Russell Clewes (Market Drayton Professional) and the Market Drayton Golf Club for their receptiveness and assistance.
