Dreams Come True

Helping seriously or terminally ill children achieve their dream.

AUCTION RAISES over £10,000 FOR CHILDREN’S CHARITY

A new initiative by Cash Converters aimed at supporting national children’s charity Dreams Come True has raised a staggering £10,241 at a time when 50 percent of Britons estimate they will be giving less money to charity due to the credit crunch.

The online charity auction took place from 8-17 October. Cash Converters stores up and down the country donated items to the auction to help raise money to fulfil the dreams of terminally and seriously ill children. Every penny made from the event went to the charity.

Cash Converters will be able to help 15 children with life threatening and long term illnesses from the auction event and their other fundraising initiatives. During the auction, members of the public were invited to bid on items as varied as sports equipment and jewellery through to double Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Homes and England footballer Theo Walcott was also up for grabs.

Mark Lemmon, chief executive at Cash Converters, said: “At a time when charities are beginning to feel the pinch we wanted to do something to help our chosen charity. Our existing online auction website was the perfect tool to help support this outstanding cause while ensuring people can pick up a bargain. We aim to run the event next year with a more ambitious target and continue to make dreams come true for children who are facing a challenging time.”

Peter Newman, chief executive at Dreams Come True said: “Cash Converters really committed themselves to organising this wonderful fundraising event and we are very grateful for the time and effort that everyone put in within the company. This fantastic amount will make a real difference and fund a number of children’s dreams. We are looking forward to working with Cash Converters to make this a very special annual event”.
